Ash Wednesday

Yo. I really like Ash Wednesday (today!) for many reasons. While I normally don't go to mass or anything, I decided that I would renew myself and my faith and go this year. I forgot how much it means to me personally. Commitment to something away from myself feels amazing, and I recommend trying it out at least once in your life even if you are not Catholic.

It is all about helping yourself to put into perspective everything that we in our lives are missing, and what is holding us back from fulfillment. Well, I don't have much more to say, but I am going to kick a few more ashes and relax today, because it is time to fast!

Day N Nite - Kid Cudi

Hey guys,

Before I embark on another adventurous weekend in which I will be having massive fun, I figured I would stop my neglect of this lovely blog and leave you all with a really cool video that has been a long time coming... again, one of the best songs of the year.  Notice the seamless transitioning between rotoscoping and video.  It is very creative... who says my profession has no future?

Well cheers to it possibly being broadcasted.  I'm off to one last stand at work before I head to North Shore.  PEACE!

Freeee Q-Tip Mixtape!!!

In an effort to find some good news for the day (which is quite an effort these days!) I fortunately stumbled upon a really cool mixtape for free download, courtesy of J. Period and Q-Tip. Check out by clicking the link at the top of the blog!

J. Period will also be coming to Honolulu very soon, courtesy of Dig Lifestyles. If I can, I will most certainly check it out because he is off the chain when it comes to the wheels of steel. Ya heard?

Her Wings

In keeping with the good vibes, I wanted to post the lyrics to one of my favorite songs that came through my shuffle this morning. So I will provide you with the second verse from "Her Wings" by Mr. J. Medeiros. It definitely helps me out on hard days, or even boring or slow ones. Search him, I know he's on iTunes and what not.

"Out of the gates to the wild blue,
The sky's too gray, she's gotta escape and fly through,
Put a smile to her, kind of reminds you,
You gotta look ahead, and not behind you.
She said staring at the sun won't blind you,
It's just a lie used by the world to come bind you
but I know a place they won't find you
If you believe, you can fly like I do."

"Absolutely beautiful.
The type to make you feel unsuitable.
She's uncommon, ain't nothin' about her usual.
If you'd of known her before the transition,
you'd be amazed by the change man listen.
She used to from this one to that one,
To feel complete she looked for men to make it happen.
Until she started asking,
If all things in this world should pass,
then show me something that's everlasting.
That's when she met true love -
not the word but the action.
Taking her to way back when.
She was Eve, in the garden of Eden
Before the apple was eaten.
Before she used to be the queen of clubs,
now it seems she's a wild card,
born again, child of god
with a style a little odd for any normal man to marry
but she fits in just fine with the revolutionaries."

Wow. I youtubed it just for fun and I found the song! Now you can sing along a little bit.

you should also check out the "Constance" video if you have a chance.

last post today... i promise

Here we go...

I am in the midst of working on some assignments and trying to recruit a couple actors for my next film I am shooting this friday hopefully (anyone interested? I need a two more guys and a girl).

Anyways, I thought I would share some informational anecdotes that I was given yesterday. Hopefully they help you all understand the inner workings of life. YAY!

Rules to Being Truly Human

You Will Learn Lessons

You are enrolled in a full time informal school called life. Each day in this school you will have the opportunity to learn lessons. You may like the lessons or you may not like them.

There are no Mistakes, Only Lessons
Growth is a process of trial and error. The failure are as much a part of the process as the successes.

A Lesson is Repeated Until Learned
A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. The lessons that have not been learned will continue to reappear in your life.

Learn to Love Your Body
You may not like it, but it will be yours for all of this lifetime. It is your best friend, the home you carry with you everywhere.

Often Times, Others are Mirrors of You
You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects to you something you love or hate about yourself.

What You Make of Life is Up to You
You have all the tools and resources you need. What you do with them is up to you. The choice is yours.

Your Answers Lie Inside of You
The answers to life's questions lie inside you. All you need to do is to look, listen and trust in the most high and your inner voice.

You Will Find Life Hard
Don't waste time trying to make it easy for yourself. For some strange reason we expect to be happy all the time.

You Will Certainly Die (sorry!)
Never forget how precarious and unpredictable your life is. It is only when you accept this truth that you can live freely and fully. (I thought about omitting this one on the grounds that it is kind of depressing, but the explanation is more uplifting than any of them, so I left it :)

You Are Not That Important
Do not forget how insignificant you are in the grand scheme of things, in the vast mysteries of time and space... be humble and don't take things for granted!

Lastly, You Have Access to Limitless Power
If you want to believe it, and if you open yourself to God, there is nothing that you cannot do or be. The healing wisdom within you will be awakened; you will be empowered to be free to always love !!!

I know this is a lot to think about, but it is far from even a drop in the bucket. Live for the moment!

Am I the only one surprised that each of these superstars remembers all their lines? Damn though, production value is astronomical.

USC Gets Upgraded

Well, you all know I am a big aficionado for films, and being an undergrad at the University of Hawaii for Creative Media has led me to a point in my life where I must start thinking about graduate programs.

Of course it is of interest to me to hear that USC is currently drastically upgrading their facilities thanks in large part to George Lucas. Now, I know that I am a far cry away from even being in competition for a spot at this university, but that doesn't mean that I won't apply when the time comes around.

I always like to dream big... like how every Summer in high school I applied for the NYU Summer program and every year I received a nice little rejection letter. Not to mention, I got the killer one when I actually applied for the school senior year.

I ended up in Manoa and I think I am a better person for it. However, next time I am not going to sell myself short. I already have a top list dream graduate schools, seeing as UH does not offer any such thing for what I want to get into. They are as follows:

1) Full Sail University (Winter Park, FL)
2) Chapman University (Orange County, CA)
3) USC (Los Angeles, CA)
4) NYU (New York, NY)

Now with all that said, time for more peacefulness... No use stressing what I cannot control at this point... I'll wait on that until I've actually accomplished something worthy of merit.
